A Notification of Release

Much as I dislike the whole process of boxing things up and making advertisements, I would like to announce that the Ordinal Knife-Pistol is now officially for sale at my Caledon shop, and soon to be on SLX and SLB. The previous entry has more pictures, and I suppose that at some point I will make some sort of video as well.

Incidentally, I cannot remember whether I mentioned it before, but I have created a group called “Ordinal Enterprises Customers” for this sort of announcement, as well as the announcement of any other events or special offers or whatnot. If you are interested in my nonsense for any reason I would encourage you to join.

If you wish to see the full release notes, by all means read on (and if you do not, by all means don’t).

THE ORDINAL KNIFE-PISTOL

INTRODUCTION

The Ordinal Knife-Pistol is a convenient combination weapon for those situations when one really is not sure whether one prefers to deliver to an adversary the taste of Cold Steel, or Hot Lead. There is now no need to change attachments in order to purvey these two culinary delights! Decorative and stylish, the Knife-Pistol suits almost any occasion (or at least any occasion where bearing a small cutlass is not consider a tad gauche).

BASIC USE

Attach the Knife-Pistol itself to the right hand either directly, right-clicking and selecting “Wear”, or by dragging it from the inventory onto oneself. It is also advised to attach the object called “Ordinal Knife-Pistol (sheathed)”, as this will appear on the left hip and show the knife-pistol when sheathed, or just the sheath when drawn.

An optional gesture is included, triggering on the F6 key - when made active this will draw or sheathe the knife-pistol as appropriate.

CLOSE COMBAT

The Knife-Pistol operates using standard controls - holding the left mouse button when not in mouselook and then pressing a movement key (forwards, backwards, left or right) will trigger an attack. The weapon is compatible with the DCS, CCS and Safezone systems, and will also deal 20 damage in a damage and rez enabled area.

Holding the “down” (C) key will begin blocking - this has an effect with combat system attachments though not in damage areas. It is impossible to move or attack whilst blocking.

RANGED COMBAT

Entering mouselook enables firing of the built-in five-shot .32 pistol, and clicking the mouse button will actually fire. With each shot, empty cartridges are ejected, and after five shots the empty magazine is similarly discarded and reloading begins (taking two seconds to insert and cock a new magazine).

COMMANDS

The knife pistol is instructed on channel 11 by default - this control channel can be changed, see below. Commands which are understood are:

draw - either draw or sheathe the weapon
channel X - change the control channel to X; all subsequent commands must be said on that channel
help - receive instructions

UPDATES

The Knife-Pistol includes an automatic updating system, to which one must opt in - more detailed instructions will be provided the first time that it is rezzed.
