Twitterbox 0.4

For what it is worth, I have finally gotten around to releasing the latest version of the Twitterbox, which includes a number of new features and is generally a bit more reliable. Of course, at this time the Grid is... well, it is a Wednesday.

If you wish to view a list of changes from the previous version, by all means read on, and do excuse the scrappiness of my list-making.

Now, hopefully, I might be able to work on, you know, a thing, rather than a succession of ephemeral seance devices. Something which exists in its own right, and allows one to do something upon the Grid itself which one previously could not. Alas, the fractious nature of reality is making this just a tad tricky, with some of my best works now appearing foolish and error-ridden, but the time will come I'm sure when events do not just occur in random orders.

Changes from 0.3

The Twitterbox (LSL)

  • only works when attached, to prevent boxes accidentally rezzed upon the floor shouting at you
  • keeps list of 10 most recent tweets, menu item added for this
  • option to show or hide your own tweets, showing by default
  • immediately checks for new tweets on startup
  • option to repeat the last tweet you made, useful for failures
  • also now contains an Automatic Updating Device, which will deliver new versions automatically!

The Server (control script)

  • added timeouts for web services
  • changed fail text to "no response from..."
  • timestamp is now absolute rather than relative for logging purposes
  • works on LA timezone
  • allows for no feeds from client
  • uses proper version parameter :)
  • tinyurl function does not die completely if it can't get a tinyurl (not that I've ever seen this happen anyway)
  • changed the SLURL caption to include the actual location SLURLed
  • added SLPOS keyword to insert textual representation of SL location
  • tries to detect type of feed before trying to parse it

The Twitterbox 0.4 is working, and posting.
However, even if posting, I receive these error messages.

I thought it may be temporal, but it's been like this throughout the day.

I received an error - '
Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Empty delimiter. in /home/.nerdy/ordinal/ordinalmalaprop.com/twitter/control-0.4.php on line 182
Failed to post!'

No response from Twitter!'

The times for these have been 06:45, 07:50, 15:34 GMT. There are other times I have not recorded.

Still, it is a great contraption I can't do without!

I think I know what that is and have made a change that I think should prevent it happening again. Do let me know if it does.

Afraid I got the same result, even after reattaching it, sorry to say.

Wonder if I am the only one? I have checked my settings twice, comparing them to the older one. Only difference is I don't have any feeds, since I wasn't really using that feature anyway.

Ah, if you removed the feeds as well, that might cause another problem. Hold on and I will try to fix that.

Well, I'm not sure if you corrected something or it is because I added the RSS feed (been meaning to use that, but never gotten around to it, will better myself ;), but now everything works just spiffy.

Thank you!

Ok. This is a better place.

Hoewever I now get:

[13:28] TwitterBox v0.4: I received an error - '
Warning: array_reverse() [function.array-reverse]: The argument should be an array in /home/.nerdy/ordinal/ordinalmalaprop.com/twitter/control-0.4.php on line 234

Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Bad arguments. in /home/.nerdy/ordinal/ordinalmalaprop.com/twitter/control-0.4.php on line 236
OK
'

Are you working on things which result in these messages temporary?

Thanks

Argh. I really should not work on these things whilst people are using them. I think that Twitter is providing some unexpected output yet again (though I am not seeing these errors...). My latest change should fix that particular one, but I would urge you to check your set email and password just in case.

Did not change anything on email and password.

But I will leave you with the tool for now, just so you can work it out. Do not want to rush or bother you too much. Or rather, not more than I have already done!

By the way, I will blog about your nice tool soon!

Wonderful device!

I do have a question regarding an error I am receiving. Although everything is in working order, I receive the message on the check every minute:

" TwitterBox v0.4: No email/password set - edit script and try again"

While I could simply comment this out, I was hoping to figure out what the issue was, as everything is in order. At first I thought it might be something I occasionally run into having my email address 'intolerable.ginsburg@...', but after changing the lsl script and Twitter to reflect a new address without a period in the middle of it, I still receive the same message (meaning that, sometimes things seem to break when encountering the period in the middle of the address).

As I said, everything is operating correctly, so not sure why I am receiving the alert and any ideas regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Fabulous script, thanks so much for sharing this!

Ah, please disregard the above question I put forth as this was a case of user ignorance.

Dear Ordinal, thank you for the most fantastic SL 'thing' yet!

/me grins

I am now happily tweeting away to my outside chums as I build in-world. Happy as a, well, little bird twittering!

Much respect,

Hugs, Goldfinch
